ALICE Economic Viability Dashboard Training

Learn about and access the new Economic Viability Dashboard. Explore the economic and community conditions experienced by ALICE households. Join fellow nonprofits and community members to learn about the The ALICE Economic Viability Dashboard. The EVD reveals the economic and community conditions of people who are struggling financially — those below the ALICE Threshold. This includes people in households with income below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and those who are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), with income above the FPL but below the cost of basics. By studying ALICE households as well as those in poverty, United For ALICE research shows the true extent of financial hardship across the country. The ALICE Economic Viability Dashboard builds on this research, exploring why so many households are struggling, with new data on ALICE work, housing, and community resources. Following a use-case, the United Way of Greater Chattanooga team will share what you can do with the dashboard and how you can use it to better understand the experience of your clients and communities.

Educate & Innovate: Two-Generation & ALICE Idea Jam

United Way of Greater Chattanooga 630 Market St, Chattanooga, TN, United States

Learn how your organization can serve the whole family and develop ideas on how to collaborate across a two-generation approach. Join us for Educate & Innovate: Two-Generation & ALICE Idea Jam! United Way of Greater Chattanooga is invested in developing a deeper two-generation approach in our community work. The two-generation approach is all about giving families a chance to thrive together. When we focus on the empowerment of both parents and children, we're setting the stage for a brighter future for the whole family. This E&I Session will start with an introduction to the two-generation approach where we will develop a community asset map that helps us better understand who is serving who in our area and how it connects to the work of other nonprofits. Hannah Lancaster, Director of Nonprofit Support and Innovation, will then walk the group through the Design Thinking process of developing an idea on how to collaborate across the two-generation approach. Nonprofits will leave this in-person, half-day session with a deeper understanding of how to serve the whole family through collaborative opportunities and an idea to use in your Catalyst Fund grant application. Lunch will be provided.

During this four-part bootcamp, you’ll collaboratively work with other nonprofit peers to strategize, problem solve, and apply business basics to your idea. The goal of this intensive is to help you collaboratively design (or redesign) a program or service and develop a shared plan of action to prepare you for a joint application to our 2025-26 Catalyst Fund Grant. Come ready for a challenge, stretch your thinking, and apply concrete tools to bring your services to life. This bootcamp is not about listening; it’s about doing.
