Kenco isn’t new to serving the community. For quite some time, Kenco has put community outreach at the forefront of their values. Through volunteerism and financial support, Kenco shows up for their community in all kinds of ways.
Recently, Kenco has made a concentrated effort in Diversity and Inclusion and part of this journey is giving back to the communities in which Kenco employees work and live. Kenco recognizes that not everyone has had the same experiences or background, but all people deserve dignity and respect.
Employee engagement is a key part of community outreach. Through various exciting and innovative opportunities, Kenco has engaged employees company-wide to join in on creating a better community:
TRANSPORTATION TEAMS COMPETE FOR A GOOD CAUSE
In June, Kenco’s transportation teams at the Rivermill office in Chattanooga, including both the Brokerage and Management divisions, hosted a friendly competition to see who could bring in the most items in support of Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy.
Team members brought in snack items requested by the school for students to take home as needs arise. In the end, more than 12,000 snacks were collected, filling up a good portion of the team’s workspace!
KENCO SITE SUPPORTS VETERANS
For Military Appreciation Month in May, Kenco’s site in Chattanooga, TN held a donation drive and fundraiser to benefit the Chattanooga, VA clinic.
Associates purchased and donated toiletry items such as shaving cream, shampoo, soap and toothpaste, and the site hosted a cookout to raise money for additional purchases. More than $600 was raised with 100% of the proceeds going to the project.
KENCO SITE SUPPORTS LOCAL ATHLETES
The Chattanooga, TN Kenco site has become a “Gold” sponsor of the Howard High School Tigers football team.
They are excited to be able to support a community outreach program with a local impact and one that associates are passionate about. The Kenco team looks forward to attending future football games and partnering with the school to provide employment opportunities for graduates.
Go Tigers!
KENCO DONATES TO FEEDING AMERICA IN HONOR OF ASSOCIATES
Kenco has made financial donations to several Feeding America food banks throughout the country, chosen based on their proximity to our top headcount employee sites. These donations were made in honor of all our associates and align with our guiding principles of helping meet the needs in our communities.
DIGGING IN THE DIRT FOR UNITED WAY DAY OF CARING
Members of Kenco’s Human Resources, Finance, Safety, IT and Communications teams volunteered for the annual “Day of Caring” event on September 30 which serves as a kick-off to United Way of Greater Chattanooga’s community-wide fundraising campaign.
The group of 30 served at Crabtree Farms, a nonprofit, community-focused sustainable farm and agricultural resource providing healthy food and educational opportunities for its neighbors. The Kenco team was put to work tilling garden beds, building storage shelves, planting fall crops and a variety of other tasks.
Thank you Kenco for all that you do!
