The 2024 United for Working Families Summit, presented by TextCare, will be held on August 27
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (July 16, 2024) – Tennessee is currently ranked 49th in the nation for helping struggling families and children, according to a report from Vanderbilt University’s Prenatal-to-3 Policy Impact Center. In Hamilton County alone, there are over 9,500 households with children living in financial hardship, known as ALICE households – asset-limited, income-constrained, and employed. These families often work multiple jobs but still can’t afford basic needs. United for Working Families is an effort designed to educate, support, and build connections among local employers to solve this growing need in Greater Chattanooga.
To address this need, United Way of Greater Chattanooga will host the second annual United for Working Families Summit, presented by TextCare, on August 27. This event promises an engaging lineup of speakers and panel discussions to foster family-friendly workplaces across the community. Join over 400 local business, nonprofit, and government leaders in this critical work to create thriving environments for working families.
“When families thrive, communities thrive,” says Lesley Scearce, CEO of United Way of Greater Chattanooga. “Fostering family-friendly workplaces is not just the right thing to do—it’s also good for business, proven by the many local leaders who have already joined us in this work. Together, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed by making Greater Chattanooga the best place for working families and upward economic mobility.”
“We created TextCare to provide every working family with round-the-clock access to high-quality healthcare without barriers. That’s our purpose,” said Dave Kinzler, TextCare CEO. “We started on this mission right here in Chattanooga, which is why we are so proud to partner with the United Way of Greater Chattanooga in the incredibly important work of providing pathways for local working families to move upward.”
The 2024 Summit on August 27th is open to business and nonprofit leaders, HR professionals, and regional and state government leaders to learn more about family-friendly efforts and use their influence for good.
The program will touch on family-friendly trends in the workplace, actionable insights from flexibility in manufacturing to parental leave policies, childcare support, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from experts and connect with other community-minded leaders as they leave with the tools they need to make meaningful changes in their own organizations.
