Project Ready for School
Project Ready for School is a Community Initiative working to prepare every child to enter school with the tools to be successful.
Research has shown that to be their most prepared for school, children need:
Access to books in the home
Early intervention services for developmental delays
Adults reading to them
High quality early childhood education

25% of area children enter kindergarten already behind in learning skills
Project Ready for School helps local children get prepared in 3 ways:
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
A free book program that promotes literacy skills by mailing a book every month to children from birth to age five.
Learning Checkups
A free developmental screening for children under five to identify any potential developmental delays and receive timely interventions.
Early Childhood Institute
An initiative that partners with childcare centers to build strong, effective programs and maintain standards for excellence through training sessions, assessments of program quality and resources.
