The Creative Discovery Museum

Creative Discovery Museum is one of the top children’s museums in the country and is a vital educational resource across our region. The Professional Development Coordinator will play a key role in Creative Discovery Museum’s efforts to create a comprehensive professional development program for all CDM staff. This position is supported in part by a national IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) grant.

Key Responsibilities

Works with departments to identify areas in which training is required and/or beneficial. Maintains an up-to-date catalog that includes all courses, schedules, credit hours, presentation methods and presenters (if applicable) for all courses. Maintains database of staff members and trainings they have completed. Shares this data with supervisors and staff members as needed Determines best presentation method for each course including but not limited to online, real time virtual, in person presentation, group studies, mentorships, etc. Conducts regular and consistent surveys of staff to determine courses needed for professional and personal development. Administers evaluation tools to measure impact of training programs. Evaluates and modifies existing or proposed programs; suggests and implements suitable changes. Researches and identifies resources to present course work including but not limited to online trainings, local and regional experts in the field and resources internal to CDM. Designs, drafts, and/or acquires new training materials as needed. Collaborates with outside consultants and training providers to deliver training. Facilitates delivery of training by reserving and setting up needed audiovisual equipment and training rooms; scheduling training times with attendees; preparing and distributing training aids such as handouts; and performing other related tasks. Coordinates activities with HR Master Consultants to ensure that training programs align with CDM HR Policies and Practices. Ensures that CDM is in compliance with IMLS grant requirements for this project. Performs other related duties, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods. Understanding of the value of diverse educational delivery systems and the ability to match content with the most effective delivery system. Strong interpersonal skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software. Salesforce experience preferred.

Educational/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required. At least two years of relevant experience
