SMSS College and Career Pathways Coach
Purpose: Support the SMSS mission of helping clients towards self-sufficiency through providing direct guidance as they are navigating educational and employment pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualized Coaching: Provide one-on-one sessions to help participants identify strengths, values, and career goals.
- College Planning: Assist with college selection, applications, and financial aid forms like FAFSA.
- Career Readiness: Support resume writing and job search, cover letter development, and interview preparation.
- Workshops & Programming: Facilitate group sessions on topics such as soft skills, job search strategies, and financial literacy.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain partnerships with local employers, colleges, and high schools.
- Case Management: Maintain accurate records of participant progress and prepare reports for program assessment.
- Alternative Pathways Exploration: Introduce participants to non-traditional education and career routes, including trade schools, technical certifications, apprenticeships, and workforce training programs.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in education, career services, college admissions, or workforce development is preferred.
- Skills: Strong active listening skills, empathy, and the ability to work with diverse populations.
- Technical Proficiency: Google Workspace, familiarity with career assessment tools and platforms like LinkedIn and Handshake.
Salary and Hours:
- Average Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour DOE / 15-20 hours a week
- Location: Flexible with some regional travel required
