Position: Native Plant Nursery Assistant
Supervisors: Lead Naturalists: Native Plant Horticulture
Details: Part-time, $15+ per hour, Non-exempt, Seasonal
Schedule: Flexible part-time schedule averaging approximately 10–30 hours/week, depending on
candidate availability and seasonal operational needs. Consistent Saturday availability is required throughout the employment period. Additional weekday hours may be available based on organizational
needs and applicant availability.

Reflection Riding is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and enthusiastic team member to support the daily operations of our native plant nursery and broader land conservation efforts. This position combines hands-on horticulture work, native plant care, public engagement, and campus stewardship in support of Reflection Riding’s mission to connect people with nature and inspire environmental stewardship.

This is an active, outdoor-facing position ideal for someone who enjoys physical work outside, has an
interest in native plants and ecology, and is excited to contribute to conservation-focused work in a
collaborative nonprofit environment.
Seasonal staffing needs are highest during the spring (January–April) and fall (August–November)
nursery seasons. Because Saturdays are among our busiest public-facing nursery days, reliable and
consistent Saturday availability is an essential requirement for this role.

Key Responsibilities
Native Plant Nursery Operations
Assist with daily nursery operations including watering, weeding, pruning, transplanting,
propagation, and general plant care
Support greenhouse, hoophouse, irrigation, and nursery infrastructure upkeep
Assist with seed collection, seed processing, and plant identification
Help maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming nursery environment
Prepare plants and materials for public sales, programs, and events

Community Engagement Support
Assist guests with native plant questions and purchases during nursery hours
Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable representative of Reflection Riding
Support volunteer workdays and assist staff with volunteer coordination as needed
Assist with nursery tours, educational programs, or public events
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
Interest in horticulture, ecology, botany, conservation, or related fields
Experience with gardening, landscaping, nursery work, or outdoor labor preferred
Comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions year-round
Ability to work independently while staying attentive to details and safety
Dependable, adaptable, and willing to contribute to a wide variety of projects
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Saturday availability required
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical and work environment demands described here are representative of those that must be
met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable

This is an active, outdoor-facing role that requires regular movement across Reflection Riding’s campus.
The employee may hike up to 2 miles with guests and must remain focused and engaged throughout.
The position involves lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., navigating uneven terrain, and maintaining
physical agility during programs and event support.
