Program Summary: Through our CommUNITY School model, Northside Neighborhood House CommUNITY School Coordinators partner with school administration to identify and provide wrap-around support to meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of the school community. This work focuses on the six key practices of the national community school model: enhanced learning opportunities; personalized culture of safety, belonging, and care; rigorous, community-connected classroom instruction; powerful student and family engagement; collaborative leadership, shared power, and voice; and integrated systems of support.
Position Summary: The CommUNITY School Coordinator will execute the vision for and oversee all activities of the CommUNITY School. The CommUNITY School Coordinator will secure and coordinate services and programs that occur on site by applying national community school best practices from a whole child approach. This person will work closely with the NNH, school principal, and key stakeholders to plan services and evaluate successes. A successful candidate will have demonstrated success in developing positive and supportive relationships with students and their families, identifying community resources, coordinating services to meet SEL needs, and developing and implementing relevant programming and reporting outcomes, including after school programming.
Typical Working Conditions/Environment: This position is based in a school. It is both an office-based and community-based position. Work location & environment may vary as needed to fully support programming
Schedule: For secondary sites, the typical schedule will be Monday – Thursday from 8:30am – 5:30pm and half days on Fridays throughout the school year. Summer schedule will be 8:30-4:30 Monday-Friday. Regular, punctual attendance is expected of all employees. Schedule may vary as needed to fully support programming.
Travel: Local travel between NNH and community partner sites several times per week. Reliable transportation and valid driver license is required to perform all functions of this role effectively. Occasional overnight or out of town travel for training may be needed.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Coordination of services
· Conduct a comprehensive, participatory needs/assets assessment of the school and community in partnership with the principal, school, and community stakeholders
· Raise awareness of partner resources and match school’s needs with those resources
· Serve as liaison between school and external partners to promote communication, planning and collaboration among partners
· Develop and coordinate new partnerships guided by needs assessment, community school strategies, and school action plan
· Work with school faculty, staff, families, and community partners to develop student supports and services
· Assist in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures that integrate community school strategies with the overall school goals
· Participate in joint planning among school leadership, partners, service providers, and others responsible for programs in learning, health, and family engagement as assigned based on individual school needs
· Steward relationships with partners by organizing and participating in regular partner meetings and other opportunities for information sharing and relationship building that foster shared ownership and responsibility.
· Manage the service coordination of school-based supports, including scheduling and the tracking and monitoring of data to support strategy implementation and evaluation.
· Convene regularly scheduled partner meetings to ensure joint planning and maximum service integration.
· Build awareness and expand the reach of the community school strategy in the identified school and surrounding community through strategic communications and community engagement efforts that work to elevate the stories and voice of the youth and families served by the school and community resources.
Support CommUNITY School Team and Stakeholders
· Implement and maintain site systems to support full-service community schools model, including but not limited to tools for cross-referral of students and families between service providers, ongoing communication, data collection and planning between service providers, faculty, staff, parents and students; and site planning, budgeting and reporting
· Create and/or utilize avenues to gather and incorporate parent voice in school decision-making settings
· Onboard, and help manage volunteers in support of CommUNITY School efforts.
· Link students to available resources to address attendance, behavior, or academic achievement needs in coordination with school leadership and school Care Team
· Develop and publicize programs and activities offered at assigned school including a marketing and outreach strategy to promote opportunities for youth and families
· Represent school at community meetings and events.
_ Program Construct and Implementation_
· Design and implement out of school time programming for students, including supervising support staff and volunteers.
· Assure the functioning of all community school core components are effectively linked to programs and fulfill the basic principles of community schools.
· Develop programs and plan engagement events that aim to increase educational opportunities and social connections for children, families, and neighborhood residents.
· Ensure safety and wellbeing of children during programming, iIncluding but not limited to behavior management, general supervision to and from activities, emotional support and ensure that all school rules, policies, and guidelines are adhered to.
· Identify and recruit partner organizations to host services at site that aim to increase educational opportunities and social connections for children, families and local residents.
· Participate in hiring support staff as needed
· (Secondary Only) Supervise, train, and evaluate support staff according to agency protocols
Communication and Documentation
· Perform administrative tasks for the day to day management and coordination of activities.
· Complete all required tasks and paperwork in a timely manner
· Maintain all required documentation
· Complete regular data reports as needed for various funding sources
_ Team Cohesion_
· Facilitate and attend mandatory site-related meetings, including but not limited to weekly principal meetings, Student Success Planning or Care team meetings, school leadership meetings, etc.
· Attend agency meetings and events, including but not limited to Community School team meetings, NNH all-staff meetings and events, feeder pattern meetings, grade level meetings, weekly 1:1 meetings with supervisor, etc.
· Complete required training on time
· Maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures
· Prepare for and attend regularly scheduled meetings with supervisor
· Perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follow federal laws, state laws, school board policies, and professional standards.
· Participate in regularly scheduled school meetings and professional development
_ Middle & High CommUNITY Sites_
· Supervise, support, and provide guidance to after school program assistants.
· Ensure that program assistants carry out program activities in a safe and nurturing environment.
· Communicate and hold program assistants accountable to agency expectations.
· Train program assistants to enhance their skills and knowledge.
· Evaluate the performance of program assistants, providing constructive feedback and conducting performance reviews.
· Work with program assistants to set achievable goals for their professional development and monitor progress towards these goals
Other duties as needed may be assigned by the school principal, supervisor, Chief Education Officer, Community School Manager, or Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
· Bachelors degree in social work, education or related field or equivalent experience required
· Two or more years of school related experience preferred
· Two or more years of nonprofit experience preferred
· Knowledge of & familiar with the community school model preferred
· Knowledge of behavior management and conflict resolution for groups of students preferred

Physical Skills:
· Ability to stand, walk, and move around for up to three hours at a time.
· Requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
· Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, telephone, and other office equipment.
· Requires hearing and vision necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
· Ability to participate in student enrichment activities, including but not limited to sports activities, outdoor excursions, fitness programs, and other physically demanding tasks.
Equipment/Technology:
· Must be able to use new software to support agency priorities.
· Must be proficient with Google Suite: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Voice, etc.
· Must be able to use a cell phone for telephone, text, and email.
· Must be able to use a computer & web-based services
· Experience with email, word processing, and spreadsheets required

Pay: $45,000.00 – $48,000.00 per year
