Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Northside Neighborhood House

Reports To: CEO | Location: NNH Main Office, 211 Minor St, Chattanooga, TN | Status: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt | Salary Range: $80,000 – $90,000

Position Summary

NNH is seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the organization’s financial health and operational infrastructure. This dual-impact role combines strategic oversight of finances with direct management of daily financial operations, IT, and facilities.

The ideal candidate is a highly adaptable, working leader who can balance strategy and execution, build and manage systems, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Nonprofit experience is required.

Essential Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

Lead budget development and financial planning with the CEO and Leadership Team.
Develop forecasting models, assess new initiatives, and provide financial insights to the Board.
Manage day-to-day operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with IRS, governmental, and funding regulations; manage audits and Form 990.
Partner with Program and Development teams on grant budgeting and restricted funds.
Infrastructure & IT Oversight

Oversee IT systems, data security, and software integrations (CRM, donor management, etc.).
Manage organizational buildings, vehicles, fleet policies, insurance, and leases.
Conduct space planning, utility monitoring, and capital improvement initiatives.
Operational Excellence

Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Lead operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support NNH’s mission and objectives.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
3 – 5 years of nonprofit financial management experience, including budgets, fund accounting, and operational oversight.
Experience managing IT, facilities, and risk mitigation.
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
Skills & Abilities:

Hands-on, adaptable leader comfortable shifting between strategy and execution.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with staff, vendors, and stakeholders.
Ability to translate complex financial information for non-financial audiences
Emotional intelligence, cultural competence, and patience with diverse populations.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative.
Essential Functions

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings or weekends to support organizational events, training, or Board meetings.
Travel / Driving: Local travel to NNH sites; occasional overnight or out-of-town travel. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.
Equipment / Technology: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and other standard office software is required. Ability to quickly learn new software systems and tools (CRM, donor management, reporting software) is expected.
Physical Requirements: Sit, stand, bend, reach; lift up to 40 lbs; operate standard office equipment.
