Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area (HFHGC) is an ecumenical Christian non-profit organization focused on housing solutions and neighborhood revitalization that benefits families and individuals in Chattanooga through home repairs, new construction, and other direct services.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Events and Community Engagement Manager supports the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga by planning and managing fundraising events and implementing marketing and communication strategies that strengthen the organization’s visibility and engagement within the community.
The Events and Community Engagement Manager supports the Director of Development to create a successful, donor-focused fund-raising and volunteerism culture to support the mission and ministry of the organization. Together, the Development Department ensures that necessary resources are available, including community relationships, to ensure that everyone in the area has a decent place to live.
Specific Duties:
Event Production (45-50% of time):
• Coordinate and execute major fundraising events, including Women Build and Blueprints for the Future (for example), in collaboration with the Director of Development and event committees to ensure successful execution; manage day-of execution of those signature events to include design, layouts, auction presentations, speakers, run of show, donation format, technology needs, etc.
• Collaborate with event committees on logistics and planning details, supporting sponsorship outreach as needed; build and steward donors and/or sponsors of events as appropriate
• Collaborate with internal departments to coordinate groundbreakings, dedications, volunteer events, and advocacy activities to include community campaigns and events
• Support partner-led events such as Tee Up & Wine Down that benefit Habitat Chattanooga
Branding Engagement, and Communication (20-25% of time):
• Author and contribute to the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies that advance Habitat Chattanooga’s mission and brand, including partnering with the ReStore team to align store marketing with organizational goals
• Author and design external communications to include social media, website, signage, and email newsletters to be effective in communicating impact and in compliance with Habitat for Humanity International branding requirements
• Create and manage marketing materials and branded items, including annual reports, donor solicitation material, thank-you packages, and swag/apparel items to ensure consistency with Habitat Chattanooga’s brand identity
• Collect and share stories that highlight impact, inspire donors, and connect the community to Habitat’s mission; create materials and videos for promotion using those stories
• Build and maintain an engagement plan in partnership with the development team to reach new prospects in the community
Administrative & Development Support (20-25% of time):
• Provide outreach to the community, attending events and serving as a representative for Habitat for Humanity and front door for potential volunteers; assist and direct donors, volunteers, prospects to the appropriate department depending on their purpose for involvement
• Support donor acknowledgement, database operations, and grant reporting processes as assigned
• Perform additional administrative, marketing, and development tasks as needed to support organizational priorities
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
• Previous experience in development, fundraising, or event management
• Computer proficiency to include CRM software for donor databases (such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, Donor Perfect) as well as office productivity software (such as Google Suites, Microsoft Office) and other web-based marketing and communication applications (such as Adobe Suite, Canva, Squarespace, Mailchimp)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to plan, organize, guide and work with staff and volunteers to execute fund raising and friend raising events
• Ability to relate to, work respectfully with, develop, train and support staff, volunteers and services recipients of all political, business, socio-economic, ethnic, national, racial, gender, diversity, religious, cultural or any other backgrounds
• Background check and drug screen required
