Position Summary:
The part-time Outreach and Events Specialist (OES) is primarily responsible for executing the day-to-day operations of community outreach (i.e., expos, give back nights, festivals, fairs, etc.) and volunteer engagement within Hamilton County, the City of Chattanooga, and Marion County. This position is responsible for developing and implementing processes and executing plans to support the organization’s strategic direction, engagement, cultivation, and stewardship of community partnerships.

As a strategic partner to the Chief Development Officer, the OES plays an integral role in the organization’s success, as well as volunteers, staff, and community stakeholders. We measure success through smart goals and outcomes, growth in volunteers, community partnerships, and service hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be able to perform all tasks in-person, off-site, and on-site at all Girls Inc. of Chattanooga and throughout the community.

Community Outreach & Events Coordination (40%)

  • Develop and implement comprehensive outreach strategies to enhance community engagement and the organization’s visibility.
  • Maintains effective relationships with community partners across the region.
  • Manages all projects, timelines, and performance goals of community outreach.
  • Works closely with CDO to establish and maintain a comprehensive community engagement profile.
  • \Works closely with CDO on the strategic planning and execution of the organization’s fundraising events, including maintaining internal systems for event checklists, guest list management, vendor lists, and day-of support.

Volunteer Engagement & Management (35%)

  • Develop and execute volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention strategies aligned with programs and organizational needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for all volunteers, providing consistent communication, ongoing support, and engagement check-ins with volunteers.
  • Develop written, measurable plans that include volunteer recruitment, retention, appreciation, and evaluation.
  • Creates and implements bi-annual (or as-needed) professional development and training for volunteers, program, and administrative staff.
  • Conducts mid-year and end-of-year evaluations with volunteers.
  • Ensures volunteers demonstrate a high level of ethics, integrity, respect, and initiative.
  • Manages all projects, timelines, and performance goals of volunteers.


Development Team & Operational Support (25%)

  • Collect and manage outreach-related impact data and images for use in donor and marketing communications.
  • Ensures timely submission of narrative, demographics, reports, and any other related obligations; serves as a point of contact.

  • Represents Girls Inc. of Chattanooga at external meetings, community committees/task forces, and outreach events in a professional manner.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in volunteer management, development, community outreach, or event planning.
  • Minimum requirement of an associate’s degree in volunteer management, business administration, donor relations, or a related field.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and access to reliable transportation.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility to work varied hours, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends, as needed, to support school-day, after-school, and special fundraising or program events.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Canva; familiarity with CRM or volunteer management platforms is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel regionally and nationally.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 40% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and transport < 30-50 lbs. of equipment or supplies for various needs.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (verbal and written) is a plus.

The Outreach and Events Specialist is a part-time position of 29 hours per week. Compensation is determined based on experience, degree of education, and level of expertise. The position requires morning, evening, and weekend hours.
