Job Description:

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Resource Navigator engages directly with neighbors receiving food assistance at the Foxwood food center location. Focusing primarily on basic needs, healthcare, and childcare, the primary function of this role is to provide in-person guidance to neighbors about additional public and private resources from which they may benefit. By sharing information about and connecting individuals and/or families to additional supports, benefits, and programs, the Resource Navigator will ultimately strive to eliminate barriers and provide opportunities for greater stability and a faster path to self-sufficiency. The Resource Navigator will support the neighbors we serve throughout the process, staying in contact and assisting them throughout all steps of accessing additional support. By acting as an advocate and taking the time to listen to our neighbors in need, treating them in an efficient and dignified way, the Resource Navigator will work alongside them to create pathways to stability.

 

Principal Responsibilities

Assess neighbor needs and navigate to appropriate resources, including public benefits in TN and GA, healthcare, food, transportation, utilities, childcare and other social and material supports
Advocate with other service providers or systems as needed
Assist with other outreach activities and food center services as needed
Follow up with neighbors to ensure that they are successfully connected with services, as allowed
Produce and maintain accurate and timely reports and records
Foster and maintain connected relationships with partner providers while actively establishing new partnerships
Maintain an all-inclusive knowledge of governmental and community-based services that are available
Additional Skills:

Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; to handle emotional situations in a sound and professional manner; to treat everyone with dignity, respect, and compassion
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities with conscientious attention to organization and detail

·         Excellent MS Office skills and experience using various technology platforms to streamline processes

·         Detail-oriented and organized, with attention to accuracy and deadlines

·         Ability to problem solve, be nimble, anticipate business needs and exhibit professional judgment with respect to confidentiality at all times

·         Energetic and passionate about our community and our mission to end hunger

·         This position works at our Foxwood location. Working hours are primarily Monday-Friday with occasional nights and weekends required

 

Qualifications

·         Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

·         Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment required

·         Bachelor’s degree or two years’ experience preferred

Must pass an extensive fingerprinting and background check
Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals
No remote work available for this position
