EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

The Executive Director shall profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ,
attend church regularly, and maintain a Godly reputation throughout the
community. Channels of Love is an extension of the church of Jesus Christ and
the Executive Director is to be Christ’s lead shepherd to those who come to
Channels for assistance.
Summary of Job
The Executive Director shall be the chief administrative officer of the ministry and
responsible for management of its total operation in accordance with its stated
purpose and within the policies and procedures formulated by the Board of
Directors. This position is responsible for the overall climate of the ministry and
the overall direction, leadership, and coordination of Board, staff, and volunteers
so as to ensure maximum benefits to clients and to the community in which it
serves.
Key Result Areas, Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops, implements and administers, in conjunction with the Board of
Directors, the vision and direction of the ministry. - Builds and maintains, including continuing education, extensive hands-on
knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS, including medical and psychosocial
issues. - Hires and terminates all employees of the ministry, subject to Board ratification;
plans, coordinates, supervises and evaluates all work of the staff; trains and
directs staff in the proper methods and procedures in the daily performance of
their work. - Oversees all public relations of the ministry. Oversees and approves the
development of all publications and materials used to promote and explain the
work of the ministry. - Oversees all operations of the main office, including: making deposits; paying
bills; maintaining accurate administrative records; supplying accountants with
information necessary to meet all obligations to the IRS, other government
offices, and funding sources; maintaining an inventory of all office supplies,
purchasing, and maintenance of office equipment; maintaining the premises in a
clean, orderly manner. - Administers the overall program within budgetary provisions and in compliance with established financial policies and procedures; oversees accurate bookkeeping of all income and expenditures to assure proper accounting of all funds received by the ministry.
- Provides leadership in identifying and developing funding sources as well as securing funds for support of the ministry.
- Conducts regular staff meetings and prayer sessions for the ministry.
- Coordinates, supervises and monitors all client case management; trains and supervises all case managers; oversees the intake of all clients; supervises all client assistance and client functions; reviews recommendations for all guest speakers for client functions; and maintains an inventory of client supplies.
Interprets the needs of clients and services of the ministry to the community on a continuing basis; attuned to community needs and opportunities in order to better serve clients. - Develops and conducts training programs for staff, clients, volunteers. Approves
all volunteers. - Establishes, maintains, and nurtures contacts with knowledgeable local, regional
and national individuals, industry organizations and like-minded groups to
remain cognizant of concerns, attitudes and options in relation to key issues.
Responsibilities to the Board of Directors
Serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors, attending all Board meetings and keeping its members informed of all programs and activities, better enabling the Board to understand all aspects of the ministry so it can carry out its policy-making and oversight responsibilities.
Confers regularly with the Board to provide current input on all affairs pertaining to the ministry.
Provides budget and financial information for all Board meetings, as well as ministry updates, opportunities and needs.
Facilitates and influences policy decision-making and the development of administrative policies and procedures; along with Board Chairman, assures that the Board maintains appropriate policies and procedures on state and federal legislative and regulatory issues.
Minimum Education and Experience
A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, as well as two years; experience developing, implementing and managing social service programs, or any equivalent
Combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge,
skills and abilities. A Master’s level degree is preferred.

Compassion for others; comprehensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS; knowledge of the
principles and practices of crisis intervention counseling; knowledge of social
service program design and implementation; outstanding human relations skills;
outstanding communications skills, both oral and written; ability to motivate and
direct others; ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously; ability to
see the broad picture and, also, to focus on details; high level of problem-solving
skills; knowledge of local, state and federal regulations governing social service
programs; knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the
community; ability to effectively interact with community leaders, foundations,
governmental bodies, and other HIV/AIDS organizations.
Reporting Relationships
This position is under the authority of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of
the Board. All employees of the ministry report to this position.
